Are you ready to gather around the table and give thanks ? Enjoy your delicious holiday meal with family, friends or an elderly neighbor. Keep your traditions alive, whether it’s football, cards, movies or just good food and conversation. Share your blessings with the less fortunate and may your Thanksgiving be blessed.  

Today we celebrate the birth of Martin Luther King Jr. ,  a social activist and leader in the civil rights movement. We must keep his dream alive, honor his legacy and continually move forward in the fight for human rights.

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is :  What are we doing for others ?“.  This quote from MLK reminds us we are not in this life alone. We need to consider other people and help those in need. Does an elderly neighbor or family member need help with groceries, getting the mail, shoveling the snow off their sidewalk or getting their garbage out ? Offering to help someone with a small chore can make a big difference in their life. If you are able , find something larger to participate in. Join a walk to raise funds for healthcare, visit those in assisted living, or take some time to listen to stories of history from our elders. Companionship is priceless. Let Martin Luther King inspire you as we remember him saying , “The time is always right to do what is right.”.

 “I have decided to stick with Love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.” Use the Love and Light in your life to help drive out darkness, hatred and injustices.  Be aware of social issues within your family, neighborhood , town , state , country and the world.  Each voice matters. The more love we have in our voices and hearts , the more love we can spread around us. Keep moving forward .
